Update on events previous, also stuff about cute babies.

Anybody else doing the Dunwich Dynamo ride tomorrow night?

Well. Good news wrt things mentioned in previous two diaries. Potentially good news anyway. Interviews went well, there exists an offer, but I know not yet of its details. More to follow. Some confusion exists in my head, partly due to lunchtime beers, partly due to actually quite liking it here (apart from commute and income) and it feels like I've been here so much longer than ~20 months. Have probably become attached to this place because it sucks so much less than the last job, which sucked hugely. But that doesn't mean the new place wouldn't be good too. I'm hoping my head will clear over the weekend.

Would be dropping C++ to x-train into Java. Neither of which are Python, so I don't think that bothers me.

Ho hum.

Dunwich Dynamo tomorrow night. Anybody else going?

Met cute new nephew last night. Less grumpy-old-man-like than youngest niece was (just been ousted from the position of "littlest person I know" and now a pretty little eleven-month-old who likes to jiggle along to her musical toys - the girl's got moves) Born yesterday (yes, "born yesterday" jokes were made) has monster appetite, we were there a couple of hours during which he had three feeds, and staring around lots absorbing all the new sights. Awesome little dude, but 9lb 3oz, ouch.

C++ is dying. by Breaker (2.00 / 0) #2 Fri Jul 22, 2005 at 11:15:13 AM EST
All the cool kids are doing Java or C# these days.

An offer's an offer by hulver (2.00 / 0) #3 Fri Jul 22, 2005 at 11:59:34 AM EST
You don't have to take it.

Have fun on the ride. I think 120 miles would kill me at the moment. Which bike are you riding?

An offer indeed by crispyduck (2.00 / 0) #4 Fri Jul 22, 2005 at 01:32:01 PM EST
Looks like a good prospect though, and working closer to home will be good for me in lots of ways. Ho hum. Am yet to find out any details of the offer though.

Riding the tourer, the only sensible choice as it has much carrying capacity for the vast stocks of food I'll need to keep me going all night, i.e. bananas, Sainsburys oat cookies, and any other random food items I pick up on my way over to London tomorrow.

9lb 3oz by altserver (2.00 / 0) #5 Fri Jul 22, 2005 at 02:34:49 PM EST
that's a lotta baby. Well, at least he wasn't 13lb 12oz! Sounds like some serious hormone action there.
