Funny stuff

This is the first diary I had written after moving out east for a new job.  I am home this weekend and will be heading back out Sunday.  I have 2 more to post, but ask any questions you might have.  Also anyone wanna help me move?

Day 1 of my new life.

----

Ha.  It's not that dramatic.  At least I don't think so.  Yet.  I had set my
alarm for 9AM, but I changed that to 10.  I had packed all I needed the night
before and I didn't want to be up to early.  So  I got up at 10, showered, and
ate some breakfast.  Made sure I had all the important things already to go to
the car.  Got online.  Sent out some emails to friends telling them I was
leaving.  Got a few replies.  Made sure that sshd and vncserver were running,
then double checked I had all the important stuff ready.

Packed the car up, said goodbye to my grandmother. Went back inside and
remembered something I had not packed.  Deodorant.  Picked that up and put it
in the car.  Said bye to the parents.  Left.

The drive up Interstate 99 is pretty uneventful.  I really wish they'd get the
extension to Interstate 80 built, it'd reduce travel time and car accidents by
a big amount.  Traffic was not too bad.  I'm still perplexed to why there is
an exit on 80, at mile marker 199.  No town is in site, the exit ramps says
"No Services."  Odd.  Maybe the exits before and after were added later and it
was placed there to break up the long stretch.  I dunno.  My exit, was 50 or
so miles from there.  I made good time, no traffic will do that for ya.

I come to my exit and I continue on a State highway.  I was using Google Maps
directions and I made a left turn too soon.  I realized as soon as I did it so
I was able to get back on track quickly.  The rest of the trip was okay.  I
went by the place I was to stay at and had to call for directions.  I wasn't
too far off though.

The Guesthouse is nice.  The owners are nice.  My 'housemate' is not here yet.
I was to get the large room, but it has a small bed so I opted for the smaler
room with the bigger bed.  Kitchen is nice.  Already made Ramen for supper.
It has a microwave, stove, fridge, table. Downstairs is a living room with a
TV, VCR and what looks to be an Atrai 2600 game console. No DVD player, but my
laptop has a player.  Bathroom with shower and tub upstairs, bathroom with
shower downstairs.

Right now I'm watching  Monday Night Football.  Philly and the Cowboys.  I'm a
Steelers fan so there is no way I can cheer for the Cowboys.  I wish the
Eagles would get it's ass in gear, how will we have an all Pennsylvania
Superbowl? Battery went dead, but vim is so cool it saved the a swap file for
me to recover.  Called home.  A Husi called.  I thought I had her number with
me but I don't.  And of course I have no Internet access.  I'll probably
venture in town tomorrow and get some of that $5/day wireless access.  Also
need to look for an apartment.  Looked at a paper and it was pretty much the
same as the online version I checked out last week.  I have some numbers
written down.  There are 2 or 3 in the town I am in now and in the next town
over that would be ideal, in terms of being close to work.

Nervous about work.  Jitters and all of that.

Saw a card at Target, that said: "I was looking at a card and I thought of
you, and now you're reading the same card, and thinking of me.  Coincidence, I
think not."  I thought it was cute, but who would I get that for????

When did "The Edge" start playing piano?  I'm way behind on my U2 crap.

Oh look a fight 47 seconds into the game.  Oh cool they have 'Chicken Run' in
the movie bin here.  I could go for a Bud Select right now.  Mmmmm, aged
American beer.  Not.

I have a cold sore.  Haven't had one of those in ages.  Well I guess, Philly
doesn't really need T.O., as they're beating Dallas's ass.  Poor Drew
Bledsoe's been on his ass all damn night.

Local murder trial update.  He was found guilty, and was sentence to life in
prison.  The DA was looking for the death penatly because of the rape and
torture before she was killed.

Anyway.  Posting of this will be in a few days,  I guess.  Updates when I have
time/access.

Wanting and being able to are two different things by lm (2.00 / 0) #1 Sat Nov 19, 2005 at 09:39:05 PM EST
I like helping people move. It gives me opportunity to play dumb muscle.

But I've neither the time nor the money to make the trip. Ask me again around this time next year. Hopefully the results will be different.

Heh, neither do I.  The bed will the hard thing to move.  If I can get that in my car, everything else I have will fit at some point.
